She graduated with the first class at the former Clinton Hospital Schoold of Nursing and was one of the charter members of the Leominster Hospital Guild which was formerly known as the Wheeler Guild. She was a member of the Unitarian Church and the Afternoon Women's Alliance of the church. She was a 50 year member of the Temple Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
