| Notes for Mary Wheeler |
| Nurse in the New Haven Hospital where she met ER Ohle. Moved to Cely in 1946. Attended Democratic National Convention in 1956 as a member of the NC delegation. She chaired the Yancey County Board of Elections and later was supervisor of elections. She was also instrumental in having the South Toe River declared an outstanding water resource. Her live is best summarized by the following quote: " Think when man's glory must begin and end, and say, my glory was, I had such good friends". |
